You would meet them at their first meeting (hopefully the day or day after they get out). Introduce them to people in the program, help them get numbers, a meeting schedule, literature, etc. Stay in touch, maybe meet them at a second or third meeting. This is such a great way to do service work and help a newcomer by guiding him or her through the first week or so! One year of sobriety is preferred for this commitment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Request a Temporary Contact: Are you currently in a treatment facility and do you need help getting to your first meeting? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>The local Alcoholics Anonymous community is here to help with a temporary contact. Some of us can tell you that, even though we heard of A.A. in treatment, we were too fearful to go. A.A. experience suggests that attending meetings regularly is critical. Treatment committees are essential in carrying the A.A. message to treatment facilities where the suffering alcoholic may be introduced to A.A. for the first time.
